Health Care for the Cardiac Patient

Our goal is to deliver state-of-the-art care in a
customer focused manner.

                       Roger A. Freedman, M.D.
Clinical Director in the Division of Cardiology

A Heart Specialist for Every Heart Problem

Cardiology works jointly with Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Interventional Radiology to ensure comprehensive care to patients. Our physicians are committed to collaborative communications with our referring physician partners.

The cardiac specialties represented by our physicians include general cardiology, preventive cardiology, noninvasive imaging, interventional therapeutics/heart catheterization, arrhythmia management, adult congenital heart disease, heart failure, heart transplant, and cholesterol disorders.

Specialists Provide Full Regimen of Care at New Cardiovascular Center which opened in Fall of 2006.
Marjorie Kitchen welcomes the consolidation of services in the Cardiovascular Center into a single clinic as specialists who once practiced in separate clinics and seldom interacted with each other are now centrally located to treat the full spectrum of cardiovascular diseases - from clogged arteries and failing hearts to leaky valves and irregular heartbeats - Article found in the University of Utah Health Sciences Report. Caring for Patients Across the Region

Our Cardiologists care for patients in the University of Utah Health Care System, the George E. Whalen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and at Community and Outreach Clinics where they conduct over 8,000 outpatient visits each year.

Our Cardiology Outreach Clinics serve many rural communities in Utah, as well as locations in Wyoming, Idaho, and Nevada, offering these communities access to heart specialists and the latest in technologies and diagnostic tools. Our Mobile Echocardiogram van brings sophisticated medical imaging to these locations.

"The Heart Facts"

Fact: Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women.

Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women (and men), but the good news is heart disease can often be prevented.  Spreading the Go Red For Women message "Love Your Heart" raises awareness of heart disease and empowers women to reduce their risk.

Wear Red to Work - February 1, 2008 is National Wear Red Day.  What to Wear? National Wear Red Day has its own dress code.  Wear your favorite red clothes or accessory - a red bloud, a red dress pin, a fabulous red handbag - put on red lipstick, or sport a red tie and red socks.  Go red in your own fashion to show your support for women and the fight against heart disease.
