Vascular Diseases and Medical Care

We evaluate and treat vascular disease using a team-care model utilizing the expertise of:

  • attending vascular surgery faculty (fully trained vascular surgery specialists)
  • vascular surgical fellows (general surgeons gaining specialized training in vascular surgery as a sub-specialty),
  • surgery residents (physicians training in general surgery),
  • medical students,
  • mid-level health care providers (advanced practice nurses (APRN) and Physician Assistants (PA-C),
  • and vascular laboratory technologists.

Utah Vascular SurgeryOur team members come from distinctly different disciplines and diverse educational backgrounds. We require interdisciplinary teamwork to enhance our patients’ outcomes. We evaluate and continually improve teamwork-related competencies such as effective communications with patients and their families, patient counseling and education, fostering a team environment, cooperative work-sharing with other health care professionals, the ability to mentor/teach students and other health care professionals, and demonstrating respectful behaviors.

Every member of our team is as aware of their teammates’ responsibilities as they are their own personal responsibilities. This team care model gives patients our best, safest, and most efficient patient care available with our interdisciplinary resources. Health care teams make fewer medical errors or other mistakes than do individuals working without the benefit of consulting others. This model offers exceptional benefits to patients through 24/7 availability, clear communication, and focused expertise while minimizing the chance that something important will be missed.

This specialized training plus extensive clinical and research experience qualify us to handle any major or minor vascular condition.

Our coordinators support the physicians by scheduling appointments and arranging other patient care needs. You may talk with a coordinator directly between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may also leave a message at other times and ask a coordinator to return your call to schedule an appointment.
